I visited specifically to go to the Chelsea Flower Show, hence my choice of hotel for ease of getting to the Chelsea Hospital grounds. I tagged on a couple of days for sightseeing and found it a perfect location for picking up London Transport links to get out and about. I was also able to take in a show with options nearby. Being a lone traveller, I felt safe and was happy to wander early evening taking in a lot of the sights. Throw in a tour bus and I was able to identify areas I’d like to explore when I get chance to visit London again.

DO NOT GO TO LONDON BETWEEN JUNE 1 and AUG 30.

DO NOT GO TO LONDON BETWEEN JUNE 1 and AUG 30. Go shoulder season, Sept/Oct is best if not May. Otherwise you will get MUCH higher prices and less availability on nearly everything...plus long cues at the major attractions. It is a BIG, CONGESTED CITY, poorly organized traffic wise a very WIDE mixture of cultures/languages/people. GET a "No Fees" credit card (I use Wells Fargo "Autogragh" Visa for tap and go everywhere. No need to carry cash of any country or denomination. Get Uber app if you are not comfortable with the high priced taxis...but for heavens sakes DO NOT TRY TO DRIVE YOURSELF THROUGH LONDON. If you do rent a car, get a AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION and a GPS system. Learn about POST CODES on the internet. Input Post Codes into GPS and it should get you to where you are going, outside London. Make sure to get the insurance too. Unbelievable drivers throughout England's outdated road system, very narrow lanes with no pull offs for miles. The M25 encircling London shuts down often...expect hours of delays to your destination. If possible, fly into Gatwick or other smaller airports. Mary Ann

London is a great place to explore .

London is a great place to explore . The Strand Palace hotel in the Strand is very close to theatres, Covent Garden , shops and public transport. There are many restaurants and pubs in the area. A short walk to the River Thames. A must is a walk along the river embankment towards the houses of parliament or walk over one of the bridges to the South bank to see the London eye. A walk to Trafalgar square and into the Mall and St James Park takes around 15 minutes. The buses can take you to many places.

We enjoyed many of the venues in London. The most spectacular was the ABBA Voyage concert. Another pleasant surprise was Windsor Castle. All other places were the same as we have visited before. Note: The changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace is a waste of time. Far too many visitors and there is nothing to see. No explanation of what's going on.

The staff was very helpful, letting me stow my luggage before checking in and after checking out. The breakfast was adequate, but not like the full English breakfast I've had on other trips to England. (However, apparently, very few B & B's and hotels are serving the full breakfast anymore, at least as a part of your room charge.) The location is very convenient with the proximity to the Victoria Coach Station and train station, making it very easy to get around London. Also, the cost for 6 nights in London was exceptional.

Our stay was great, was one of the best hotels I’ve stayed in, and I’ve stayed in royal London Montcalm to premier inn. The kitchen had everything you needed including all kitchen utensils, pans, cutlery, dishwasher, tv bathroom stuff. decor was fab, comfy bed which was actually a proper double. Breakfast was so nice. Such a decent price for what you get. A short walk from the station and Westminster. Staff were so nice and charged our phones cos we forgot one charger. Was exactly same as photos.

I've stayed at the Balham Lodge on previous occasions. It's a cheap'n'cheerful spot in part of London where I have a good friend, so although it may appear a bit off the beaten track, it's actually easy to reach on public transport and a nice, quiet locale. Unusually for cheap hotels/b&b-s in London, the rooms (at least the ones I've stayed in) have decent-sized bathrooms and good quality showers. Facilities are clean, fairly basic and no one could reasonably expect any more at these prices.

Lovely, friendly guy greeted us on arrival, happily gave us advice on getting around London. Our twin room was spacious for London. Very clean throughout and comfortable beds. The tea and coffee facilities and fridge were a bonus too. We were very happy with everything for the price we paid - it was cheaper than most hotels we've stayed in and much nicer. The location was great too - just around the corner from Baker Street station with plenty of eating establishments a short walk away.

I have traveled the world, and this hotel ranks among the nicest hotels I have visited. It is very clean, the location is absolutely perfect, the beds are very comfortable and the room was very quiet. By London standards, the rooms are quite large (we received an upgrade to a bigger room with a sofa bed because one of our rooms wasn't ready yet). The staff couldn't be nicer. I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely be back.

I just needed an economical overnight hotel convenient to Heathrow airport and central London for an unexpected overnight trip in London and this did the trick. The location, as described, was excellent. Just a brief walk to the tube, a Tesco right across the street for some forgotten items, and coffee and a post office nearby all helped. Also, this was one of the few hotels that we could find that would sleep three to a room without using a sofa bed.
